Ranking 92nd in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings, Our Savior New American entered their Tarkanian Classic opener as the underdogs against Prime Prep, ranked 5th in the nation.
Our Savior did not let that discourage them, outlasting Prime Prep in a 69-58 victory. The Pioneers broke away after Cheick Diallo slammed down a duck taking a 43-41 and starting a 9-0 run.
From there, Our Savior never left off the gas pedal. Kobie Eubanks led the team with 19 points followed by 16 points from Damon Wilson.
The most impressive part of the Pioneers’ game was their defense. Emmanuel Mudiay, Prime Preps star guard and leading scorer, was held to only 12 points.
This victory sends Our Savior New American into their upcoming games against Montrose Christian (MD) today and Trinity International (NV) on Sunday later in the tournament with loads of momentum.
